A Successful First Year
May 2007 is the start of our second year at O.E.C. Our first year started May 2006 when we moved the horses down from Newton Farm. When we arrived most of the horses were turned out into the front paddocks as there were no stable doors yet! Although some of the horses including Polo, Tango, Jack, L. Penny and Charlie needed stabling for various reasons. For this to be able to happen Dan worked into the night welding so that we could attach chains to keep the horses in!! They were finally secured in with pallets tied with string, how far have we come from there with the new sliding doors and chains on every stable!! Since then the yard continued to take shape changing almost every day to look more and more like the plans that were drawn up all that time ago! The completion of the outdoor school has benefited the horses as they have had winter turnout and also allowed lessons to be taken outside which we have not been able to do before and the increased space is great for dressage and showjumping. The business as a whole has moved forward from a small yard with 13 stables and one instructor to one that stables 23 horses and has 4 BHS qualified instructors working within the establishment. We have also seen a few more horses come over the past year allowing us to accommodate more clients and offer more choice and experience of different horses.

Oxmardyke Equestrian Centre achieves British Horse Society Approval.
Completion of the yard to this high standard enabled the school to go for BHS Approval which was achieved without any complications in March 2007. (You may have noticed the blue plaque near the viewing area door.) This means that Oxmardyke Equestrian Centre has met all the requirements of what the British Horse Society expects from an equestrian establishment, including the horses, schools, stables, instructors and other staff. We are all very proud of this.
